Drawing & Hyperfocus
Drawing is a compulsive practice for me and I am interested in the role of hyper-focus in drawing as a regulatory practice for neurodivergent brain processes.
This series is loosely to do with the blurring of boundaries between conjoined entities like mothers and babies, and between opposed sensory qualities like softness, sharpness, solidity and fluidity.
It is also to do with self-regulating sensory behaviours, like the compulsive urge to shade using pencil; The forms grow out of the act of obsessional shading rather than the other way round.
