Drawing & Hyperfocus

Drawing is a compulsive practice for me and I am interested in the role of hyper-focus in drawing as a regulatory practice for neurodivergent brain processes.

The above series is loosely to do with the blurring of boundaries between conjoined entities like mothers and babies, and between seemingly opposed sensory qualities like softness, sharpness, solidity and fluidity.

It is also to do with self-regulating sensory behaviours, like the compulsive urge to shade using pencil; The forms grow out of the act of obsessional shading rather than the other way round.

Repetitive Drawing

A series about repetitive drawing as a self-regulating behaviour, and the particular satisfaction derived from creating collections (collectisfaction). Each drawing is made up of a repeated square shape only. The drawings are sewn together because they are part of the Chronic Mnemonics.
